Syllabus: | Examination of copyright, design and patent and trademarks legislation. The common law areas of breach of confidence and passing off. |
|
Unit Outcomes: | This unit is designed to introduce students to the statutory and common law means by which intellectual property is protected in Australia. The unit covers the statutory protection provided to copyright, patents, designs and trademarks, and the unit alsocovers the common law actions of passing off and breach of confidence. The emphasis is on a practical rather than a legalistic approach, so that a student could expect to obtain a general overview of the area rather than to become an intellectual property expert. |
