The unit covers the statutory protection provided to copyright, patents, designs and trademarks, and the unit alsocovers the common law actions of passing off and breach of confidence. The emphasis is on a practical rather than a legalistic approach, so that a student could expect to obtain a general overview of the area rather than to become an intellectual property expert.
