BSc(Curtin)

Introduction

Molecular biology is one of the most exciting and rapidly developing areas of science, providing an understanding of how our body functions and the underlying mechanisms of many human, animal and plant diseases. This course covers all aspects of modern biotechnology with an emphasis on the current molecular techniques and the revolutionary impact they are having on our lives. It covers - Genetic engineering, Recombinant DNA technology, genomics, proteomics, bioinformatics, applications of DNA technologies in diagnostic medicine and forensic science. Tissue engineering, human and animal cloning. Social and ethical issues confronting modern biotechnology. Our graduates look forward to an exciting career in a wide range of biotechnology, biomedical, agricultural and industrial based areas in, hospital, medical research institutes, government laboratories and in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.
