UNIT REFERENCES, TEXTS, OUTCOMES AND ASSESSMENT DETAILS: | The most up-to-date information about unit references, texts and outcomes, will be provided in the unit outline. |
Syllabus: | This unit focuses on children in school settings age 6-8 years. The unit provides a comprehensive overview of theory and practices in establishing and creating emotionally supportive, equitable, healthy, safe and effective learning environments that achieve desired current curriculum outcomes. The learning modules and professional placement enable pre-service teachers to become reflective educators who critique and apply their knowledge of multiple pedagogies, the curriculum, their role as a facilitator, design elements of a rich learning environment, and a range of approaches to authentically document learning. Includes a three-week (15 days) professional placement with children aged between 6 and 8 years in school-based settings. This unit brings together all Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority’s Curriculum Specification as students undertake school practicum. |
