| Syllabus: | This unit provides an introduction to language, its development, use and centrality to living and learning. Effective teaching of language, literature and literacy rests upon theoretical understanding and practical appreciation of the roles of language and languages in all sociocultural contents. The modes, textual varieties, purposes and functions of English are emphasised as students develop confidence in their own academic and professional literacy. |
