131110 v.2 Bachelor of Science (Mathematical Sciences), Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering)
BSc(Curtin), BEng(Curtin) OR BEng(Hons)(Curtin)
Introduction
These double degree programs provide graduates with a broad range of analytical and mathematical skills with particular relevance to engineering analysis, design and development. The combination of the two degrees provides a versatility which opens up a wider range of employment opportunities.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
TEE Calculus, Applicable Mathematics and Physics.
Specific Requirements
The STAT is not acceptable for entry to this course. To satisfy professional requirements, students must complete at least 12 weeks of approved work experience associated with engineering in industry. Students may make their own arrangements for employment or seek the assistance of the University's Careers and Prospective Students Service.
Note
Well performed candidates without some of these subjects may be admitted but will be required to complete appropriate bridging and special course units as prescribed. In certain cases, the need to complete these special units may result in an extension of studies beyond the normal length of the course.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
Duration and Availability
The course is five years study and is only available on a full-time basis.
Course Organisation
Students enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two disciplines. In this event the relevant Head of Department shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree.
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
