A degree in social work from a recognised university that meets the minimum educational requirements for admission to membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers. In addition, a minimum of 12 months documented relevant work experience.
Applicants for this course should refer to the Communicable Diseases and Criminal Record Screening and Clearance section of this publication.
This fee-paying course is eighteen months full-time or equivalent part-time study. Some optional units may be available externally although external study is not permitted for international onshore students on student visas.
The course can be undertaken with either a research or a practice emphasis, thus providing opportunity to focus on contemporary workplace directions. Students may, if they wish, pursue an area of specialisation through the choice of an optional unit. Students also choose their field of practice or research project. The Department endeavours to alternate times of on-camps lectures for the convenience of students. Lectures, practical exercises, role-plays, videos, discussions and client stories contribute to a varied and engaging learning atmosphere.
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
