Introduction to the scientific method within an epidemiological framework. Association and causation, observational and experimental study designs, application of ethical principles to research questions, measurement issues - reliability and validity ofdata, issues of sampling statistical inference, errors and hypothesis testing and power and sample size calculation. Overview of descriptive statistics, data types and statistical distributions, estimation and confidence intervals and inferential statistical tests. |
