Syllabus:

An interdisciplinary unit combining Cultural Studies and Film and Television Studies concepts in examining Australian television as a cultural practice and process. Students gain an understanding of the historical contexts in which Australian television programs were produced and broadcast, the principal issues addressed in broadcasting and cultural policy and the relationship between cultural production and national identity. Students utilise concepts relevant to textual analysis and television production to critically examine specific Australian programs and their viewing contexts, as well as issues relating to the future of television production in Australia.
