Introduction
This course is designed for experienced logistics or information technology professionals who recognise the need to increase their knowledge and skills in the planning, development, application and management of information technology and innovation in competitive, global electronic business environments. The program incorporates a range of new concepts, methodologies and technologies aimed at supporting organisations in achieving corporative objectives with leading electronic business technologies. The combination of generic skills, specialist knowledge and skills and practical projects is planned to develop a well-rounded graduate, one who has the ability to research and solve problems in the application of logistics and electronic commerce. The practical nature of the course will assist students to consolidate their learning by undertaking industry centred studies which require practice and reflection upon both the industry outcomes and the learning process. Students will also gain confidence in their ability to manage problem situations in a logistics and electronic business environment by applying the technical management knowledge and skills presented.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A minimum course average of 65 per cent in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in a logistics or computing related discipline is necessary for entry. In addition, at least two years experience in the logistics or information technology industries. Candidates must supply evidence of their industry experience. Students with a degree in a non-computing discipline may be required to complete foundation studies in order to gain entry. If the Bachelor degree was not completed in English, the prospectivestudents must have a minimum TOEFL score of 570 or an IELTS overall score of 6.5. Alternatively candidates may undertake the Curtin University Test in English (CUTE).
Recognition of Prior Learning
Students who have already completed units in the Postgraduate Diploma in Logistics and Electronic Business may apply for recognition of prior learning for up to a total of 200 credits. No exemptions will be given, although units may be substituted at theSchool's discretion. Other units may be approved by the Manager, Postgraduate Programs.
Duration and Availability
This fee-paying course is three semesters full time or equivalent part-time study.
Intermediate Awards I
A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate awards approved for this course appear below.

Course Organisation
This course is subdivided into three groups. The first group of units focuses on technology and management aspects, the second consists of advanced logistics units and the final group consists of fieldwork in the form of action research, which is designed to involve students in industry projects. The material studied covers managing information systems projects and risks, electronic business infrastructure, enterprise distribution and transportation, materials management in enterprise environments, strategic logistics management, electronic business security, advanced problem-solving for information system managers.
Professional Recognition
With a prior computing-related degree graduates may be able to apply and obtain membership of the Australian Computer Society and the British Computing Society. Students successfully completing the degree may also be able to apply for membership of the Hong Kong chapter of the Chartered Association of Logistics and Transport.
Career Opportunities
Postgraduates generally find employment in supervisory and management roles within private and public organisations utilising electronic business systems and logistics.
