Introduction
This masters degree is designed for information systems and information technology professionals who recognise the need to increase their knowledge or skills in the management and strategic application of information systems and information communications technology in competitive, intelligent and global business environments. The program combines theory, research and practice and incorporates a range of new concepts, methodologies and technologies relating to information systems, information technology and Internet security.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A high average in an undergraduate or graduate degree in an information systems/information technology or a computing-related discipline. No relevant work experience is necessary for entry to this program.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
Duration and Availability
This fee-paying course is of two years full-time or equivalent part-time study.
Intermediate Awards I
A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate awards approved for this course appear below.

Course Organisation
The Master of Commerce (Information Systems) consists of 16 units of study, each carrying a weighting of 25 credits, totalling 400 credits. Students have the options to choose from the areas of study which includes strategic information systems, businessinformation technology management, knowledge management, programming, web services and architecture, database mining, problem solving, computer forensics, Internet security and cyberwarfare
Professional Recognition
With a prior computing, information sytems or information technology related degree, graduates may apply for membership with the Australian Computer Society.
Career Opportunities
Graduates generally find employment in supervisory roles within information systems departments in public and private organisations.
