The course provides a knowledge and understanding of core areas of mineral processing and extractive metallurgy. It is designed for non-metallurgy scientists or engineers who wish to pursue a career in the minerals industry as an extractive metallurgist.
An Australian recognised bachelors degree in an engineering or science discipline, excluding extractive metallurgy or equivalent qualifications.
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
This fee-paying course is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study. The course is also available on an external study basis.
A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate awards approved for this course appear below.
