The Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) course provides students with the skills necessary for professions requiring knowledge of and communication with peoples of different cultures and languages. Graduates of this degree and associated double degrees possess functional knowledge of and an ability to communicate in at least one Asian culture. The course offers a choice of majors in Chinese (Mandarin), Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Asian Studies or TESOL. The flexible nature of the Asian Studies courses allows students to prepare a program of study suitable to individual academic interests and professional vocational needs, including units fromother Divisions in the University. In recent years graduates have had no difficulty in finding employment in a wide selection of professions, both in Australia and Asia. Graduates of the Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) may be invited to enrol in an honours year and may be considered for admission to graduate courses.
