Syllabus:

Differential calculus of functions of several variables. Optimisation. Application in chemistry. Modelling with differential equations. First order differential equations. Second order linear differential equations. Numerical methods. Partial differential equations. Applications in thermodynamics.
 

Unit Outcomes:

At the completion of this unit students will have acquired a sound level of knowledge of modern mathematical techniques commonly used by today's practising chemist, physicist or any other analytical engineer.
