Syllabus:

The law governing the administration of health services. Legislative controls and common law regulation. Informed consent and patients' rights.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Identify and have an appreciation of ethical issues confronting health service professionals and the health industry. Identify and have an appreciation of health law and its conceptual interpretation in the health workplace. Analyse new paradigm thinking in relation to ethical issues in health and the law in relation to service delivery and professional practice. Develop more depth in their professional and personal philosophies of practice. Acknowledge the potential for creativity, personal growth and transformation within self as health professionals and as agents of change with the health professions and the health care system
