Syllabus:

Introduction and the development of higher order skills in manual therapy for the spinal column and peripheral articulations, including exercise prescription. Formation and testing of diagnostic hypotheses in neuromusculoskeletal disorders and the development of treatment prescriptions.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have - Demonstrated competence in the manual therapy examination and assessment of extremity articular disorders. Demonstrated competence in the examination and assessment of spinal disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Demonstrated competence in the physical examination and treatment of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system. Demonstrated an understanding of the principles of exercise therapy prescription. Diagnosed, categorised and determinedthe stage of neuromusculoskeletal disorders. Determined the indications and contra-indications for manual therapy prescription including exercise. Identify types of disorders requiring medical opinion, medical treatment or appropriate forms of physiotherapy treatment other than manual therapy.
