Syllabus:

Indigenous ways of community building health workers role in assisting communities with strategies to achieve vision and unity. Resources needed by communities for healthy living and resources needed by health workers for care delivery - networking, referrals and teamwork. Change - the concept, process and strategies used in health related manners. Health promotion - principles and practice of teaching and learning, process of health promotion in a creative culturally appropriate framework. Strategies toassess, plan, deliver and evaluate a health education project.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Compiled a work folio of health-related agencies that service the general community within a local area. Explained community building through negotiation. Characterised the concept and process ofchange. Investigated ways to intervene for change in health-related contexts. Described the principles of health promotion to meet identified community needs. Assessed, planned, implemented and evaluated a health education project.

Unit Assessment Breakdown:

Community Resources Workfolio (details according to guidelines), Group Discussion Report (Negotiation and Conflict Resolution), Essay (Concept, process and strategies for change with Aboriginal people), Practicum (Health Education Report), Journal writing. Students must obtain a 50% grade in each assessment unit to achieve a Pass grade. This is by Pass/Fail Assessment.
