Syllabus:

Risk minimisation and management. Patient classification systems. Accreditation and principles of continuous quality improvement. Industrial relations. Professional issues and advocacy. Financial management and the responsibilities of the nurse. Organisational culture and structures. Human resources management. International context and trends. Management processes and practices. Leadership nursing. Portfolio development.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have - Identified the role of the nurse in health care management. Described the organisational structure and function. Related continuous quality improvement to health care. Identified key performanceindicators in quality care delivery. Described the relationship between human resource management and performance. Demonstrated personal growth using a professional learning portfolio as evidence.
