Syllabus:

Problem and need identification - problem solving, systems thinking, decision making. Information requirements determination - needs associated with management activities and decisions, assessment of value, management requirements. Organisational issues - politics of information. Objectives and performance measures - systems definitions, measures of performance and standards.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have - An awareness of the elusive nature of information and the problems of attaching a value to it both practically and theoretically. Gained an appreciation of the value of information to managementof organisations. Understood different methods used to identify information requirements and their appropriateness. An understanding of the need for evaluation of information systems. An awareness of the responsibilities of the information system professional.
