Syllabus:

Information systems - information management, systems concepts, information systems within an organisation. Computer systems - hardware, operating systems, application and end-user software, office technology, networks and communications. Management of information systems - data processing systems, office automation, decision support systems, introduction to the development, implementation and management of information systems. Office application software. Security, privacy and ethical issues.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have - Understood the basic concepts of information systems and its relevance to commerce. Followed a systems development life cycle and developed a small end-user information system. Basic competency in office application software, Microsoft Office. Knowledge of the Information Systems career options. Knowledge of the Information Systems course options.
