Prerequisite(s):

10101 (v.4) Introduction to Indigenous Australians 101 or any previous version

Through field trips, lectures and seminars students investigate the issues surrounding the presentation, representation and manipulation of indigenous art and in practical and written exercises, critique the success or failure of these examples. Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have an understanding of the diversity and history of their own culture and a commitment to its maintenance and growth. Critically discussed the ways in which Indigenous art and craft is presented and discussed options for improving that form of presentation. Identified sensitive issues in the display and critical discussion of Indigenous art and found appropriate solutions. Developed a small exhibition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander art around a specific theme.
