Syllabus:

Properties, selection criteria and how to apply materials for interiors. Environmental considerations, materials selection, longevity for interiors. Environmentally sustainable design alternatives for material selections in interiors.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Developed an understanding of the complex characteristics of materials as required in the arena of Interior Architecture. Promoted exploration of cultural, social, sensory, environmental and aesthetic aspect in the interior environment. Developed skills to aid evaluation and selection of materials in the interior environment. Established a database encompassing physical and visual characteristics of the basic building materials used in interiors.Integrated materials knowledge base with design and technical issues.
