Syllabus:

Further develops communicative competence in the Chinese language through collaborative and self-directed learning activities. Skills acquired in handling short written texts on topics relating to contemporary Chinese society. Expression of opinion is encouraged and discussions conducted through the presentation of reports on topics covered. Current research on modern Chinese history will also be introduced for discussion.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Taken part in specific purpose interviews. Conducted conversation in a manner appropriate or the customs of Chinese speaking communities. Read short articles written in simplified and/or traditional scripts on contemporary Chinese society. Written short reports or summaries of discussions on a variety of topics covered in this semester.
