Syllabus:

Introduces a range of topics that are specifically related to managing in an international context. Considers a variety of materials that form part of the body of knowledge generally referred to as international management. Covers other functional areas where there are specific issues to consider in an international context such as finance, marketing and human resource management. Cross-cultural issues and ethics relating specifically to international operations. Taught primarily through the use of case studies.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have - Developed awareness and understanding of the key cultural, human resource, economic and financial and marketing competencies that are necessary to successfully operate an organisation in an international environment. Enabled students to explore the dimensions of culture that are important to leaders as individuals in dealing with overseas firms or operating in another country. Developed the knowledge and the skills to access information sources and gather data useful to the development and implementation of business strategies in an Asian country. Developed an understanding of the ethical issues confronting leaders who do business in the global environment and develop personal proactive strategies to manage these issues. Developed an appreciation of e commerce as an agent of change in global business and to explore the processes of innovation and new business development.
