Syllabus:

Risk assessment techniques for consumers and small business, analysis and interpretation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flows and funds statements and how these impact on risk assessment, industry structure analysis and the competitive environment - interpretation of these issues in making risk assessment, risk management practices, setting lending policy guidelines, the use of credit scoring and expert systems in the anlaysis and interpretation of lending risk.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On completion of this unit students will have- Explained credit risk and how it arises. Described common forms of lending to personal and small business clients of financial institutions. Demonstrated an understanding of sound underwriting practices by analysing simplified lending proposals and making correct lending decisions. Explained how to measure credit risk in individual loans and loan portfolios. Described techniques for managing credit risk.
