Syllabus:

Examination of copyright, design, patent and trademark legislation. The common law areas of breach of confidence and passing off.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have - An understanding of the statutory and common law means by which intellectual property is protected in Australia. An understanding of the statutory protection provided to copyright, patents, designs and trademarks, and the common law actions of passing off and breach of confidence. A general overview of the area rather than becoming an intellectual property expert, as the emphasis is on a practical rather than a legalistic approach.
