Syllabus:The nature and purpose of operations research. Overview of important prototype problems - inventory, queuing, project management, simulation, mathematical programming. Linear programming - formulation, solution techniques, post optamality analysis. Use of Linear Programming computer programs and case studies. Game theory.
 
Unit Outcomes: On completion of this unit the student will have: an understanding of the nature and purpose of Operations Research for analysis of complex systems; Developed skills in the formulation and solution of problems arising in management, industry and business; Developed an understanding of the fundamental concepts of theory of Linear Programming (LP) and the ability to apply it.
