Syllabus: | Further development of physiotherapy competencies in health care provision. Student seminars are included on contemporary topics critical to care provision such as aging, torture and trauma, Aboriginal health, organ transplants, intellectual disability, domestic violence, cross cultural health, palliative care, children in families, rural and remote health, altered mental health, HIV and AIDS. Case presentations on typical disorders are used to continue emphasis on clinical reasoning using evidence based practice principles. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have - Developed effective oral and written interpersonal communication skills. Developed advanced clinical reasoning skills through a series of complex case studies. Developed an understanding of the range of community services and the health and related services which meet client needs by working with team members. Developed the skills required in order to manage clients with complex health care problems by reflecting on the range of skills, services and resources (clinical, psycho-social and communication) which are available. Discussed different models of health care provision in local, national and international contexts and integrated theoretical and practical knowledge to provide optimum care forclients with complex problems. Examined in depth a topical health care issue and the impact on physiotherapy service provision. |
