Syllabus:	Traumatology - foot trauma. Ankle inversion sprain, posterior process fractures, jones fractures, cuboid disease, sinus tarsi syndrome, lateral nerve compression, sesamoiditis. RSDS. DISH. Electrophysical Agents. Indications and contraindications of various electrical and physical modalities used in podiatry, including ultrasound, TENS, ice therapy, strapping and bracing techniques, rehabilitation, exercise and use of wobble-board etc. Podiatric Orthopaedics - orthoses, management of diverse podiatric pathologies using orthotic therapy. Nail surgery - supervised practical sessions.
Unit Outcomes:	On successful completion of this unit students will have - An understanding of the basic principles of traumatology as performed by a Podiatrist. (These techniques include the use of Ultrasound, TENS, Ice and Heat Therapy, Strapping, Bracing, Exercise and general rehabilitation of the foot and lower limb.) An understanding of evaluation and communication in the surgical environment.
