Syllabus:Further develops communicative competence in the Chinese language through collaborative and self-directed learning activities. Students will acquire skills in handling short written texts on topics relating to contemporary Chinese society. They will be encouraged to express opinion, conduct discussions and present reports on topics covered in this semester. Current research on modern Chinese history will also be introduced for discussion.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Taken part in specific purpose interviews. Conducted conversations in a manner appropriate to the customs of Chinese speaking communities. Read short articles written in a simplified and/or traditional scripts on contemporary Chinese society. Written short reports or summary of discussions on a variety of topics covered in this semester.
