Introduction
This course is designed for those interested in studying the theory and practice of teaching in higher, technical and further education. Practical application of theory is emphasised and opportunity is given for the application of theory to educational practice. Field work forms an integral part of several units and focuses on activities related to teaching and learning and the development and assessment of learning units and materials.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A bachelors degree, or equivalent qualification, from a recognised institution. Students in this course must provide evidence of teaching, training or staff development responsibilities in which the practical requirements of the course can be satisfied.

Duration and Availability
This fee paying course is of two semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study. Students normally complete this course on a four semester part-time basis. The units will be offered through a variety of flexible and open learning modes.

Intermediate Awards
A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the 'Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching' or the 'Graduate Certificate in Training and Development' may apply under exceptional circumstance provisions for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School/Department. Course Organisation
A coordinated program of eight units from the optional units listed will be selected in consultation with the Training and Development Courses Coordinator.

Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
