Introduction
This course is designed to provide a sound foundation in the core areas of policy analysis and management in the public sector, developed within a framework which emphasises policy formulation, implementation and evaluation within the public sector. Opportunity is provided for a mix of coursework and research.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A degree from a recognised Australian tertiary institution, or an equivalent qualification, and a minimum of three years of relevant work experience. Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) results must be submitted.

Specific Requirements
Depending on their previous field of study, students may be required to complete one or more foundation units before commencing the first stage.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability
The course is of three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study.

Intermediate Awards
A student who has successfully completed all the requirements of the Graduate Diploma in Policy Science may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of the Head of School. For further definition refer to the Statement and Awards section under General Information.

Course Organisation
The course consists of two equal stages. Stage One of the course corresponds to the Graduate Diploma in Policy Sciences. Stage Two may be completed by coursework and project.

Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on area of study.
