Syllabus: Introduction to modern physics: from blackbody radiation and Planck’s hypothesis through the early models of the atom to Schdringer’s wave equation. Wave mechanics, quantum numbers, the exclusion principle and the periodic table. The principle of relativity and consequences of special relativity.
