| Syllabus: | This unit is designed for students who have successfully studied WACE physics 3A/3B or equivalent, with a final scaled mark of at least 65%. Other students should take PHYS1006 Foundations of Physics. Physical data analysis and graphical techniques. Uncertainties in measurement. Linear Mechanics (Newtons Law). Work and energy conservation equations (energy and momentum). Rotational mechanics, conservation of angular momentum. Gravitation. Fluid Mechanics. Waves and Oscillations. Superposition, interference and standing waves. Sound waves. Doppler effect. Introduction to thermodynamics (first and second laws). |
