Course Overview
Graduate Certificates prepare students to develop advanced knowledge and skills for professional or highly skilled work and further learning corresponding to AQF level 8 qualifications.
This is a multidisciplinary course designed to provide specialist training in public health for graduate students.

Course Entry and Completion Details
Applicants for a Graduate Certificate are required to meet University academic and English language entry standards; details are provided at http://futurestudents.curtin.edu.au. Applicants generally require a Bachelor Degree or equivalent credit gained for recognised learning. Any specific course entry and completion requirements must also be met.
Specifically, applicants require an undergraduate degree from a tertiary institution preferably in a health science area, education, behavioural sciences, social sciences or management. Applicants with other qualifications and expertise may be considered for admission, but may be required to complete appropriate bridging units. In certain cases, relevant work experience may be recognised for course entry.
Credit for Recognised Learning
Applications for credit towards a course are assessed on an individual basis. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to complete the course and may be granted for formal education qualifications, non-formal learning from non-award programs of study and informal learning through work experiences. Course Learning Outcomes
A graduate of this course can:
1. apply discipline specific knowledge in an area of public health
2. think critically in problem solving and decision making
3. access and use information technology to access, evaluate and interpret public health data and transform information to complete a range of activities
4. communicate effectively in various settings and/or for different audiences within the context of public health activities
5. use current technologies applicable to public health
6. demonstrate responsibility for personal outputs
7. explain how different national contexts impact on the health of individuals and communities
8. demonstrate an awareness of the impact of inequities and social disadvantage on the health of individuals and community
9. demonstrate the ability to work effectively as an individual and within a team environment
Duration and Availability
This fee-paying course available in both internal and external study modes is of one semester full-time or equivalent part-time study. Where possible, classes will be scheduled in the evening to accommodate students already employed. This course is also available to international offshore students.
