Environmental systems and the human-environment interaction. The impact of behavioural and environmental factors as determinants of health. The concepts of hazard, harms and risk and the nature of environmental hazards. Health risk and needs assessment. Managing environmental health risks, planning and implementing health protection. Legal and non-statutory frameworks in environmental health. Community development, analysis, and participatory action research. A review of the application of the principles of health protection and health promotion in selected case studies.
