Historical and contemporary overview of Asian language teaching in Australia. Methodology of language teaching and classroom practice. Asian language syllabi. Evaluation of courses and student proficiency, current texts and references, including print, audio, video and computer material. Sociocultural component of Asian language teaching. Reading non Roman scripts. Students specialise in one of the following languages-Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean or Thai.
