The geography of rural Australia. The nature of Australian rural land use - agriculture, mining and tourism. The impact of technological and structural change in relation to international developments. Land degradation and conservation. The role of government. Australian rural society, rural institutions and settlement patterns. Social issues of rural Australia - the adoption and consequences of technological and structural change. Data collection and analysis.
