Regolith characterisation and importance. Weathering processes. Regolith materials, classification and terminology. Regolith landscape evolution and models. Nature and identification of weathered rocks. Regolith geochemistry in exploration. Principles of trace element analysis. Soil, drainage sediment, laterite, vegetation and groundwater surveys. Primary and secondary dispersion and case histories. Regolith geochemistry and the environment. Fieldwork exercises.
