Foundations and definitions of health promotion - health, health education, health promotion, wellness. Ecological model - Maslow's theory, Ottawa Charter and Jakarta Declaration. Needs assessment, Psychosocial basis of health promotion - including Health Belief Model and Fishbein's Theory of Reasoned Action. Frameworks for health promotion planning including epidemiological, behavioural and ecological assessment. Predisposing, enabling and reinforcing factors. Introduction to evaluation and preparation of research proposals.
