Introduction

This is an online postgraduate certificate course in medication management review (MMR) and disease state management (DSM). It has been designed to facilitate accreditation of Australian registered pharmacists to provide such services which may be fundedby the Australian government or other third party payers. It provides pharmacists with the knowledge and skills to engage activity in the management of patients which chronic disease. This course also contributes in part, credits towards the Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy (Hospital Pharmacy), the Master of Pharmacy (Clinical Pharmacy) or the Master of Philosophy (Pharmacy) courses.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

Bachelor of Pharmacy degree and at least 2 years post graduation work experience.

Duration and Availability

Six months full-time or part-time equivalent. Fully online.

Course Organisation

This is a unique, innovative, fully online postgraduate pharmacy course that focuses specifically on medication management review and disease state management. It has been designed to assist pharmacists achieve accreditation for delivering a range of cognitive services currently funded or likely to be funded by the Australian Government and/or third party payers. The course also provides articulation into the Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy and the Master of Pharmacy (Clinical Pharmacy).

Professional Recognition

Various components of the course will assist with accreditation through the AACP for medication management review services and disease state management services for pharmacists registered in Australia.

Career Opportunities

The course is tailored to allow Australian pharmacists to develop their knowledge and skills for delivery of medication management review and disease state management services, and to achieve recognition for remuneration for these services. The School of Pharmacy has consulted with the Australian Association of Consultant Pharmacy (AACP) in designing the course, so that successful candidates can seek accreditation necessary to deliver these services. For overseas registered pharmacists interested in developing their clinical knowledge and skills and in expanding their clinical roles, this course will provide similar benefits. Various components of the course will assist with accreditation through the AACP for medication management review services and disease state management services for pharmacists registered in Australia.
