185907 v.3 Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental HealthPGradDipEnvHlth(Curtin) This course is not available to International Onshore Students on Student Visas IntroductionThis course is designed for graduates who are interested in the promotion of human health and welfare by the controlling of environmental hazards and who wish to gain the professional skills associated with the identification, assessment, evaluation and control of these hazards. This course provides opportunities for professionals in environmental health, health and safety, environmental protection, health promotion and related professions to acquire knowledge and develop skills appropriate to the management of environmental health protection and safety in public, commercial, industrial and voluntary organisations. With the completion of the postgraduate diploma in environmental health, practising professionals will be able to confront and resolve environmental health problems and issues. It also expands the knowledge and skills base of environmental health specialists and other graduates of science and engineering disciplines enabling them to successfully adapt to the changing environmental health needs of communities. Course Entry Requirements/PrerequisitesA bachelor degree plus some relevant work experience. Consistent with the interdisciplinary nature of the course, a broad range of undergraduate or graduate degrees are acceptable. Among these are environmental science, physics, mathematics, biology, chemistry, engineering, and geology. Graduates without relevant work experience may be admitted following successful completion of a prescribed bridging program. Recognition of Prior LearningApplications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Duration and AvailabilityThis course is two semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study. It is conducted principally in external mode. Course OrganisationStudents enrolled in the single degree course may elect to transfer to a double degree program. In this event, the relevant Head of Department shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the double degree. Additional Course ExpensesStudents may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials.
