The course consists of five modules. Module 1 examines various social and cultural determinants of public health and health behaviour and provides an overview on global trends in public health and health promotion. Module 2 analyses factors contributing to inequalities in patterns of health, and the need for appropriate and equitable health care services for disadvantaged groups such as indigenous peoples, non-English speaking migrants, aged, youth and rural populations in Australia. Module 3 presents three major strategies to facilitate health changes through community participation, health policy formation and multi-sectoral partnership in settings. Module 4 examines a range of issues impacting on public health in the context of development and globalisation. Finally, module 5 deals with principles and ethics in public health and health promotion and discusses future challenges and strategies in health promotion. |
