Introduction
This course is designed for those with management experience within the tourism and hospitality industry intending to pursue a broad-based program in the theory and practice of business management.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
A bachelors degree in commerce, tourism, hospitality or related field, 12 months experience in a managerial position within the tourism and hospitality industry, or a postgraduate qualification in tourism, hospitality or related field. Those holding a bachelors degree in commerce, tourism, hospitality or related field and without relevant work experience are required to undertake a component which may include professional practice units. Those with a bachelors degree in a field other than commerce, tourism, hospitality or related field and or who have no relevant experience may be required to undertake additional foundation units. Applicants without the above qualifications but with appropriate managerial work experience in the tourism and hospitality industry may, at the discretion of the Curtin Business School Course Coordinator, be referred to a Board of Study for admission under special review.

Specific Requirements
Candidates without sufficient background may be required to complete one or more of the following foundation units before commencing the first stage - Cross Cultural Communication and Transitions 580, Tourism Management (Principles and Practices) 560, Services Information Management 561, Tourism Management (Impacts and Influences) 565.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

Duration and Availability
This fee paying course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study. Some units are available during the evening. Course duration will depend on previous qualifications and experience.

Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
