This professional master program is designed for business information systems or information technology professionals who recognise the need to increase their knowledge or skills in the planning, development, application and management of information technology, and innovation in competitive, global business environments. This program incorporates a range of new concepts, methodologies and technologies aimed at supporting organisations in achieving corporative objectives with leading edge technologies.
A high course average in the Graduate Diploma in Information Systems or computing related higher degree, or a high course average in an undergraduate degree either in a non information systems, information technology or computing related discipline. Students wishing to undertake a PhD should enrol in the Master of Commerce (Information Systems).
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
This course is three semesters full-time or equivalent part-time study.
A student who has completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval from the Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate award(s) approved for this course are:
Graduate Diploma in Information Systems.
The Master of Information Technology consists of 12 units of study. The core areas studied include managing information systems projects and risks, web application and architecture, data mining and advanced database management, enterprise network management, systems development methodologies and problem solving.
With a prior computing related degree graduates may apply for membership to the Australian Computer Society.
Postgraduates generally find employment in supervisory and management roles within private and public organisations utilizing information technology, or design and development of IT systems.
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other essential study materials.
