It equips graduates with the technical competencies and analytical skills to find employment in a variety of government, educational, research and business contexts. Course Entry Requirements/PrerequisitesAt least one TEE science subject. Applicable Mathematics desirable. Specific RequirementsSTAT elements considered are E and either V or Q. Recognition of Prior LearningApplications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Duration and AvailabilityThe course is four years full-time or equivalent part-time study. Course OrganisationStudents enrolled in the double degree program may elect to transfer to a single degree course in one of the two disciplines. In this event the relevant Head of Department shall determine the amount of credit to be transferred to the single degree. Social Science units are offered jointly at second and third year levels. Students who have successfully completed a unit at one year level may not enrol in that unit at the other year level. For example, a student who has completed Sociology 211 may not enrolin Sociology 311. Students must undertake half of the course in Social Science units. These must comprise either a social science major, second social science major or a social science minor plus social science elective units as required. Electives mayinclude additional sociology units. In each semester/year, students are required to achieve a balanced enrolment in both environmental biology and social science components of their course. Professional RecognitionGraduates are eligible for Associate Membership of the Australian Institute of Biology and the Environmental Institute of Australia. Full membership becomes possible for graduates with honours or pass degrees, respectively, after three or four years of professional practice.
