Syllabus:

Organometallic chemistry - bonding, aromatic ligands, metal/carbon compounds. Chemistry of the d-block elements and their compounds - industrial and commercial applications. Coordination compounds, field theory. UV visible spectra, magnetic properties. Consequences of crystal field splitting. Laboratory work - mini projects, preparation and characterisation of a coordination compound.
