Syllabus:

Principles of mass spectrometer operation. Ion optics, ion sources, mass dispersion, detectors. Data acquisition. Measurement of isotopic abundance. Automation. Isotope dilution and measurements of amount substance. Modern mass spectrometers including TIMS and SHRIMP. A selection of modern applications in fields such as health science, geoscience, planetary science, nucleoastrophysics and metrology.
