Syllabus: |
Single particle mechanics. Free settling, shape factors, solids classification and thickeners. Particle systems. Flow through packed beds, fluidization, filtration and centrifugal separation. Size reduction (comminution), non-Newtonian fluid rheology, viscometry, turbulent boundary layers, flow of homogenous suspensions, suspension of large particles in turbulent flow, flow of heterogeneous suspension, wear in slurry pipeline systems and effect of solids on pump performance. |
