306925 v.1 Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Nursing PracticePGradDipAdvNursPrac(Curtin) IntroductionThis course prepares nurses working or who wish to work in nursing settings including the remote, rural and community areas with specialised theoretical knowledge and advanced clinical competencies necessary for their extended practice roles. Developed on a primary health care framework and maintaining a cross-cultural awareness stream throughout it's content, the course includes both theoretical and clinical practice components to focus on primary health care and advanced clinical practice. This distance education course is designed as a flexible learning program to meet the needs of the industry. Specific RequirementsApplicants must successfully complete the required pre-course workshop and individual learning needs will be assessed prior to acceptance into the program. Selection for this mode of entry will be based on appropriate clinical experience, continuing education, professional development and an interview process. Recognition of Prior LearningApplications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis upon presentation of a portfolio detailing evidence of professional, clinical and academic accomplishments. Duration and AvailabilityThis course is one year full-time or equivalent part-time external study. Entry into the course will be twice yearly. It is expected that the preferred enrolment will be part-time as most students will be currently employed whilst studying. Course OrganisationThe practical component of the program is with an approved agency in collaboration with the Course Coordinator. Fieldwork placements are subject to approval by the Course Coordinator. Additional Course ExpensesStudents may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.
