Introduction


This research course provides an opportunity to undertake a significant study in a range of science fields. Research and thesis topics will be chosen from areas of continuing or emerging significance.

Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites


Entry requires completion at a recognised tertiary institution of a degree at Bachelor level in relevant branches of science, engineering or computer science with first or second class honours, or a postgraduate diploma in a relevant discipline. Completion of a Bachelors degree with a superior performance, together with relevant and substantial work experience, may also meet entry requirements. Refer to Regulations for the Degree of Master (By Research) in the General Information section of the Curtin Courses Handbook.

Duration and Availability


The course is two years full-time or equivalent part-time study. External study is also available.

Additional Course Expenses


Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. In addition, students may also need to contribute some of the cost of consumables, which varies depending on the area of study.

Special Note


It is a requirement that two-thirds of this course is undertaken by research and only on third by coursework.
